Simple tests can show how your heart beats, pumps and responds to effort. Your doctor may suggest these if you have chest discomfort, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, or a family history of heart problems.
What to expect
- ECG — records your heart's electrical activity in minutes
- 2D Echo — an ultrasound that shows your heart's structure and how it pumps
- TMT (treadmill test) — your heart is monitored while you walk on a treadmill
- Holter monitoring — a small portable recorder tracks your heart for 24 to 48 hours
